Jake Bugg – Love, Hope and Misery Review.

The second single from Jake Bugg’s upcoming album, On My One, was Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record” on BBC Radio 1 on May 4th 2016. The track is called, Love, Hope and Misery and it definetely does not dissappoint.

Opening with a brilliant drum beat and mellow guitar riff, Bugg’s typical style is still somewhat present, but it’s great to see him moving on from those country bangers to a more soulful sound.

From the start, there is a strong blues feel to the song from the lyrics “Crying for the one who doesn’t love you,” and this is continued in the chorus – “They say it comes in threes // love, hope and misery”. It seems the track was written based on the pain of loving someone who doesn’t feel the same.

There’s a fantastic instrumental throughout Love, Hope and Misery and the song has been beautifully produced. It’s certainly one crowds will be singing along to this summer and it’s got me insanely excited to hear the full album!
